Faculty stayed after school on Tuesday, February 6, for their monthly faculty meeting that turned into an engaging professional development opportunity. This meeting was done a little different though, as it was conducted as a class complete with an objective and activity! Teachers became the students and administrators were the teachers. The objective given to the "class" was to construct a paper airplane that would fly a minimum of 20 feet. The faculty had fun while reviewing effective objective writing and lesson execution.

We hosted a parent and student night for all 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students across the district on Thursday January 25. This was a great opportunity for parents and students to learn more about the pathways offered at the Career Center, as well as meet our faculty and staff. Those in attendance were able to enjoy a hot dog supper provided by our Culinary Arts students. A lot of those in attendance also left winners with one of our awesome door prizes! Thank you to everyone who made this event a success!

Some of our teachers and staff spent the long weekend at the FYI Conference at Myrtle Beach! The keynote speaker was Chef La Tasha McCutchen, winner of Hell’s Kitchen season 13. Different CTE instructors and administrators from around the state presented during the breakout sessions! Our very own Chef Dominic Hawkes was presented with the Alternative Certified Teacher of the Year Award at the close of the conference! This conference was a great motivation for our teachers as second semester starts today! Oh and you can't beat that view for a conference!
