On October 2, students from across Lancaster County School District stepped into the spotlight at our Teacher Education Pathway Fair — Lights, Camera, Lead!
Students discovered that the Education & Training Pathway is about so much more than teaching children! It's about developing leadership skills, building confidence, inspiring others, and creating a strong foundation for a variety of future careers! 🌟
🎥Learning by DOING was the star of the show! Through interactive rotation stations, students got a sneak peek at what they might experience in our education classes!
🎨 Play-Doh Creations: Made their own Play-Doh while discovering how hands-on activities support children's learning and development.
📚 Future Authors: Created children's books while exploring creativity, literacy, and early childhood education.
🧰 Leadership Toolboxes: Identified their leadership strengths and the tools needed to become effective leaders.
🤝 Team-Building Challenges: Put communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to the test through cup-stacking challenges, the Human Knot, and other fun activities!
🎤 We were honored to welcome two special guests! A heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Williams, LCSD Superintendent, for encouraging our students and inspiring them to recognize their potential as future leaders. We also thank Mr. Byrd for sharing his personal experiences as an educator and offering valuable insight into the teaching profession. Their encouraging words reminded students of the difference they can make in the lives of others!

Congratulations to Mrs. Lathan, Business Education teacher, on being recognized by STAR, a program of the Foundation for Professional Development and the Palmetto State Teachers Association (PSTA). It is a statewide initiative that recognizes and honors outstanding veteran teachers throughout South Carolina. The goal of STAR is to recognize, reward, renew, and retain outstanding veteran teachers in South Carolina. For each fall and spring cohort, only eight educators from across the state are selected to participate in the STAR Teacher Seminar.
Way to go and keep up the good work! We are proud to have Mrs. Lathan as part of the Phoenix family!

🚓 During August, Law Enforcement Services students received valuable instruction and practical experience in patrol tactics, officer-approach techniques, physical training, handcuffing procedures, and responses to real-world incident scenarios. These hands-on learning opportunities continue to strengthen their knowledge, confidence, and career readiness in law enforcement.
A sincere thank you to our community partners at the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office for investing their time, expertise, and support in our students. A special shoutout to Captain Carroll and Sergeant Payne of the Community Engagement Team, who served as guest instructors, assisted with many of our hands-on activities, and provided an active-duty law enforcement presence in the classroom.
It was truly a great month of relevant, engaging, and meaningful hands-on learning for our Law Enforcement Services students!

This nationally recognized certification equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to serve as 911 dispatchers and emergency communication professionals. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and success as they achieved their Career Ready status! 👏🎓
Our Intro to Law Enforcement students also recently completed their spring semester capstone project, the “Cereal Box Serial Killer” project. 🥣🔍 Students selected a criminal case of interest to research and creatively showcased their findings through unique cereal box designs. Each project highlighted key facts, timelines, case details, and law enforcement interactions while adding a fun and imaginative cereal-themed twist.
This project allowed students to combine research, critical thinking, public speaking, and creativity, and they truly enjoyed bringing their ideas to life! We are extremely proud of their hard work, innovation, and outstanding presentations. 💙
