Sydni is reliable and responsible and takes pride in her work! Sydni is a role model for her peers and can always be depended on! She also always knows when her teacher needs a hug or a good laugh! She's got a great sense of humor :) She has been a student leader since day one. She is welcoming, outgoing, and cares about everyone she is around. I am now known at school as "Sydni's teacher" which I am proud to be called!
Jude Nelson - Mainones
Jude is such a kind,caring, and funny kid. He goes out of his way to help anyone who may need it. He is such a ray of sunshine and makes people smile wherever he goes. He always seeks challenges and absolutely loves to learn. He is the kind of student any teacher would dream of having. I am so lucky to have watched him grow this year. He truly is one of a kind.
Bennett Haag - Cernovsky
Bennett is an exceptional 1st grader at Harrisburg Elementary School. Bennett is a model student who shines each and every day in the classroom and exhibits all the qualities we would want to see in a HES Tomahawk student. He is incredibly kind and always thinks of others. He is quick to lend a hand and be a friend to all. He is so friendly and people love to be around him. Bennett is always respectful, responsible, and works hard to do his best. It is evident that he loves school and enjoys learning new things. I am very proud of all he has accomplished this year in 1st grade.

Friday, Mrs. Lingerman's class celebrated finishing the "Mercy Watson" series in their classroom. This is a fictional story about a pig who loves to go on adventures. There are seven books and we began this reading journey at the beginning of the school year. To celebrate, we completed some ELA activities about the book and we also "pinned the tail" on Mercy!
Congratulations to Ruhi Anand, a first grade friend from Mrs. Massie's class for winning the Lancaster County Arts & Essay contest! We are so proud of Ruhi and her essay about "teamwork making the dream work"! Go, Ruhi, Go!

It's Earth Day, Tomahawks! Today our kids have been working hard learning about taking care of our Earth. We've done it all, reading, writing, picking up trash around the school and planting lettuce in our gardens. What are you doing to take care of our Earth today? Post your pics in the comments!

We had a wonderful time at the Special Olympics today....from our send off at school to our athletes doing awesome things...fun was had, smiles were big, laughs were abundant! It was a great day for Tomahawk Nation!

The Willy Wonka cast and crew spent the day yesterday honing their musical skills at the 19th annual Junior Theater Celebration in Charlotte. Not only did they learn from some of the best teachers from NYC, they also got to perform a song on the Belk Theatre stage in front of other students and teachers. Everyone came away excited and better prepared for their next musical. What does Harrisburg Elementary have in store for the 2025 musical? Stay tuned to find out.

“I would like to nominate Tanishia White for Tomahawk of the Week. Tanishia has been a positive influence on students at HES for many years. She is a calm, consistent presence that our children love and trust. She is always willing to do any and every task thrown her way and she does them with a smile and a positive attitude! Taniesha is quick to jump in if any child or staff needs help around the building. She has even been known over the years to work “magic tricks” on some of our toughest little five year olds! ;) We suspect her trick includes a recipe of consistency, calmness and a whole heap of love! Anyone who has the pleasure to spend time with Tanishia walks away feeling cheery and perhaps with a little giggle or two! ;) Thank you Tanishia for being a stronghold for the children and teachers at HES! We are so fortunate to have you here and appreciate all your hard work for the students and being such an excellent co-worker and friend to all!”

Second graders have been talking about goods and services in social studies. Last Friday, Mrs. Davis' husband came in to talk about goods and services that Tesla provides as he works for them. They even got to look at and explore the car and watch the car dance to music.
4th Grade has had an amazing week at Anne Springs in Fort Mill! Check out all the cool activities the kids were able to do! Ask your 4th grader about their trip today!!

Mrs Frame's 2nd grade enjoyed their Glow Day yesterday! Glow Day was their top incentive goal for Read A Thon. Her class read over 15,000 minutes to earn this prize! The class had a day full of every glow in the dark activity possible; glowing addition, roll and trace, chocolate egg toss, glow ring toss, sight word cup stacking, skip counting ball toss and learned about different insects and animals that have bioluminescent qualities. It was an amazing day and such a fun way to get ready for Spring Break!

She greets all students with a smile and their name. She also knows what every student enjoys reading! She is quick to help the students with whatever book he/she might be looking for. Not only do the kiddos appreciate her, the teachers do too! She works so hard to build relationships with all teachers. She is full of resources on any topic needed for the classroom.
