NOTE FROM ILIS: We kindly ask you to take a few moments to complete the Climate Survey. Your feedback is essential and directly influences our school's operations and practices. Currently, we have received fewer than 15 responses out of nearly 1,200 families at ILIS. Please know that your input is not just collected and set aside—we carefully review every response to make meaningful improvements. Thank you for sharing your voice and helping us create the best environment for our students and community. ORIGINAL MESSAGE FROM LCSD: The 2025 Climate Survey - Now Open (INSTRUCTIONS TO ACCESS SURVEY FOUND HERE: https://core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/4155/Lancaster_CSD/5393651/Accessing_Ecollect_Forms_SCDE_Parent_Climate_Survey__1_.pdf ) Each year we ask parents and legal guardians to complete a School Climate survey that relates to our annual school report card. This survey helps make improvements based on your feedback. The survey is available through March 31, 2025 and can be accessed through your PowerSchool parent portal. If you have more than one student tied to your account, you will see a tab for each student. You will complete one survey for the school where your child is enrolled. If you have more than one student at a school, you will have an option to complete one survey for each student, however one per building is sufficient. To access the survey, you can log in to your Parent Portal account and choose the Surveys icon on the left. Under General Forms select the 2025 Parent and Guardian School Climate Survey. Click on the link to complete the survey. Your Opinion Matters and we greatly appreciate you completing the survey.

Joint Meeting March 20, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
We are so proud of all our amazing staff members and teachers at ILIS, but we are especially excited to highlight these three incredible employees! Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Year Erin Palermo (registrar), Beginning Teacher of the Year Christopher Pendarvis (5th grade Social Studies & Science) and Teacher of the Year Emily Kyle (5th Grade Social Studies & Science)! Below are the words spoken yesterday at our ceremony to announce each of the winners: Staff Member of the Year: We will start with the Staff Person of the Year. When I met this person it was during the summer and she was one of the first people I met. I knew her prior to coming here but I will not give you those details. She is a tremendous worker, she will help out whenever you need her, she is a true professional and knows her job extremely well. She is responsible for every single student in this building and the work can be never ending. This year, we are honored to recognize someone whose commitment, expertise, and unwavering support make her an invaluable part of ILIS. Whether it’s late nights, long weekends, or being the go-to person for so many, her dedication never goes unnoticed. Her knowledge, willingness to help, and passion for our school are unmatched. As one of the founding employees of ILIS, it’s due time we give her this honor, and thank her for helping to make ILIS what it is. It is with great appreciation and admiration that we announce our Staff Member of the Year: Erin Palermo! Beginning Teacher of the Year: When I first met this teacher, I realized immediately that I knew his name. He is a tremendous person and an extremely talented young man. He comes from a family of teachers and we are lucky to have him as part of ILIS. Whenever I speak with this person, he is respectful, he truly understands the teaching business and he is a pleasure to be around. This person comes to the late bus duty and sits with his students. His team is constantly moving throughout the lunchroom and communicating with his students. He does his work with compassion and true concern for his students. I sincerely hope, this young man continues with this profession because he will impact the lives of many if not all of his students. It is a privilege to announce the BTOY of the Mr. Pendarvis Teacher of the Year: Our Teacher of the Year is a tremendous teacher, a true instructor. I am grateful for her hard work. She is the definition of what teaching looks like. She works tirelessly, she connects to her students and families and she does it with balance and passion. This teacher displays her flexibility and grace which shows all of us how deeply invested she is in teaching and nurturing her students. When you walk into her classroom, she is engaged with her students. The students show their strengths as they continually engage with this teacher. As I said earlier about Mr. Pendarvis, I truly hope this teacher continues with this profession. A profession that is not easy, a profession that is time consuming and exhausting. This teacher like many of you in this gym, understand the deep and profound impact you have on these children. It is a true pleasure that I announce the Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Emily Kyle.

6th Grade Math Teacher Extraordinaire Ms. Kobos is sharing something from her students last week! Her kids are working on surface area. She tasked them with finding out how much wrapping paper was needed to cover an entire package! She's getting this skill set now, so you can recruit the kids to help you wrap your holiday packages! 😉

On Monday, Ms. Harwood shared what's been happening in her 5th grade Math classes. She writes, "My classes created a food product that comes in 3 different sizes. Students were given dimensions of the items regular size, then had to use multiplication of fractions to find the new dimensions of the mini and large sized products. They designed the artwork for their products. Then, they found the volume of each, and created them from graph paper! So fun!" So fun indeed, Ms. Harwood! We appreciate you sharing with us! Enjoy the rest of your long weekend, Warriors. We will see students back on campus Tuesday, March 18th!

Here’s a fun throwback from Ms. Arrowood! During recess, she captured Mr. Miller playing soccer with her students on the very turf our 2023-24 Warriors helped fund during Boosterthon! This is a perfect reminder that the money raised isn’t just an investment in our current students, but in the future Warriors who will walk these halls. We can’t thank you enough for your support in helping us continue to make ILIS better for generations to come! 💙💛

Hello, Warriors! We hope your students are enjoying this Friday off! We have a post from Ms. Gregory's classroom! Her assistant Ms. Williams writes, " On Monday, we learned how to make Ice Cream! We mused, measured and poured our way to m any ice cream related activities including sequencing and pattern recognition. A yummy way to learn! 🍦" A yummy way indeed! If we know our Mr. Miller, he probably had a serving or two!

Meet Me in ONE Minute Series
Ms. Pittman's 5th grade ELA classes have been busy! She has two things she'd love to share with our families. :) First, the photos of the papers on the lockers! She writes, "Students in my classes were given a spring writing prompt where they had to write about something new they'd like to try this spring. Writing is such a crucial part of not only ELA but life in general. The practice did them so well. They rose to the occasion and impressed me with their writing and spring goals!" Second group of photos are of competition between her students. She writes, "Students today completed an anchor chart activity! They had to list homophones and homographs, and whichever team listed the most won! The winning group had 83!" What are homophones and homographs, you ask? Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings like "there", "their" and "they're", or "accept" and "except". Homographs are words that are spelled the same but have different meanings like "bat" being a mammal or sports equipment, or "can" meaning able to, or a metal food container!
