Spring 2019 Microburst EmployAbility Soft Skills certified students.
Our first annual Women's Empowerment Summit was a huge success. Guest speakers shared their journey to success; obstacles they faced along the way and how they moved past them; how their dreams or goals changed throughout their career; words of wisdom for success; and how they give back to the community.
The Regional Internship/Apprenticeship signing day was held on April 30 at the Hood Center in Rock Hill. Thirty-five high school and college students were recognized for successful Work Based Learning as interns or apprentices at local companies in our region. The students and the company representatives signed their certificate of intent, indicating their commitment to each other. The LCSD Career Center coordinated 5 internships.

Partner In education
A big "thank you: goes out to Duracell for being a partner in education with the LCSD Career Center.
Law Enforcement student, Day’Sha McFadden, seen here with Commander Richard Steininger of American Legion Post 250 in Indian Land, attended the Nathan Wolfe Cadet Academy this past summer at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy with the financial support from Post 250. Day’Sha is a Law Enforcement Completer who will also be taking the Emergency Telecommunicator Course next semester.
The LCSD Career Center participated in the Lancaster Parade December 2018. The float was designed and constructed by faculty and students of the Career Center. The float won "Best Use of Theme" award.

Law Enforcement Training
The Career Center teachers toured several local businesses to explore the technical and employment skills each industry utilizes. Employers shared the necessary skills for the jobs as well as current challenges. The information learned from the tours will be implemented in the Career Center classrooms.
Dean Faile with the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and John McCain with the Lancaster Economic Development Board arranged the tours to Fab Fours, Inc., LCI Lineberger, Nutramax, Silgan, Akzo Nobel, USC Lancaster, Founder FCU, Springs Memorial Hospital, and the Law Enforcement Training Center.
